FAQ to Hire a Belly Dancer in New Jersey!

What type of events/parties do you perform at?

Hiring a Belly Dancer in New Jersey is great idea for all types of events and parties, birthday parties, retirement parties, anniversary or divorce parties, girls-night, bachelorette parties, weddings, baby showers; the list is really endless. However, I respectfully decline to perform at all male parties

01

How long is your show/performance?

All show/performance times are based on the specific event requirements and pre-planning with the host. However, a typical performance is anywhere from 12 to 25 minutes.  For ideas and more information please see the Packages page.

02

What type of dancing should I expect? Is Belly Dance appropriate for children?

Expect a traditional Belly dance show, no Bollywood or Hula. Belly dance can be sensual, but it is definitely not sexual. All performances are family friendly and appropriate for children of all ages. You should expect to see a lively entrance followed by a performance to a softer piece of music, then a piece with heavy drums beats and closing with an Arabic pop music selection. Audience participation is always encouraged during the final song and I've found that children love to get up and dance with the "princess" belly dancer. For more information please see the Packages page.

04

Are you available? How far in advance should I book a show?

Like any other service or entertainment package you should book as soon as possible to ensure availability. Last minute bookings are worth a shot, but are not always guaranteed. At minimum I suggest calling at least 2-3 weeks in advance to ensure I'm available for your event.

05

Do I also tip you, is tipping appropriate?

Tipping while not required, is always a welcomed gesture to show appreciation.  The best way to do this is to include a tip after the show or as part of my payment. However, there are a couple of other fun and acceptable ways to tip. 1) While I'm dancing, you can throw a “money shower” over my head (I will ask the host to collect fallen bills after my performance), or 2) you can tuck the bills into my costume (I’ll direct you to the appropriate areas, such as my wristbands or placed into my hands).

06

Who brings the music and what type of music is it?

The belly dancer provides the music and will have a set list ready for the performance based on the pre-planning and specifications for the event. Depending on the available equipment, music will be in the form of an IPOD or CD. The show usually includes both belly dance classics and contemporary hits, with the focus on upbeat, appealing melodies. If there is something specific, please discuss this prior to the event.

07

Can I record video and take pictures of the performance?

Of course you can! They are memories that will last forever. I kindly ask and always appreciate that pictures and video of my performance are also sent to me by email.

08

How can I book? Policy? What do you need to know?

I will need to know the date, time and the location of your event, also how many guests you’re expecting, plus any other additional information on the theme (i.e. 50th birthday party, retirement party, etc.) of your event. If I’m available for the date and time you requested, I will tentatively "pencil" you in and ask that you sign a contract and pay a non-refundable 50% deposit up front, preferable paid via PayPal. Once I receive your contract and deposit payment, we're all set and you have officially booked me as your entertainment for your event.  The balance must be paid no later than the time of the scheduled performance, in cash or you may also pay the balance amount by using PayPal 72 hours before the event. If the performance is cancelled less than 7 days prior to the event, payment in full shall be forfeited to the artist.

09

What forms of payment do you accept?

In order to secure availability, a non-refundable 50% deposit is required via credit card (via PayPal), PayPal, Zelle or Venmo. Balance owed to be paid at show, before performance begins via Cash or by using Zelle / Venmo 72 hours before event.

I love the idea, but I want several dancers or different dance themes, can you help me

All performances can be customized to your event or specifications.  Sa'Noorah is a Belly Dancer in New Jersey and NYC and although does not dance Bollywood or Hula, I work closely with other dancers in the area who do and can collaborate with them to create an evening of spellbinding and captivating performances, striking entrances and exits with props and stunning solo and group routines. Rates are dependent on event specifications and how many dancers are required; please inquire for a price quote.
